- EDEKA is the new anchor tenant in the center

Berlin, May 19, 2025 – In GALERIE AM SCHLOSSBERG, the central shopping center in downtown Sondershausen at Lange Straße 1a, the grocery retailer EDEKA can be welcomed as an anchor tenant. Planning has already started, and construction work is expected to begin shortly.
On approximately 2,000 m² of retail space, EDEKA is expected to offer a comprehensive assortment of food and non-food items starting in spring 2026 — everything customers need for their daily needs. With this, GALERIE AM SCHLOSSBERG gains a strong anchor tenant known for quality, variety, and local supply. The center thus fulfills its role in ensuring local provisioning for residents.
Beyond this, the development of the center is progressing positively: the Livos-Gruppe’s efforts to lease additional vacant spaces are showing promising results. The central location of GALERIE AM SCHLOSSBERG at the foot of Sondershausen Castle and the numerous parking spaces in the parking garage make it attractive for customers, retailers, and service providers alike. The tenant mix includes a drugstore, a specialty electronics store, a travel agency, a textile retailer, and other non-food providers. Additionally, the offering is complemented by a bakery and an ice cream café that invite visitors to linger.

Center manager Kathleen Viol adds: “Both our existing tenants and many local residents are already looking forward to the new shopping option in the gallery once the renovation work is completed.”
GALERIE AM SCHLOSSBERG enjoys great popularity in the region. Its central location in the heart of Sondershausen — just a few minutes’ walk from the central bus station — and easy accessibility make it an attractive destination for the entire city.
