153 new apartments in Marzahn: Gewobag celebrates topping-out ceremony at Allee der Kosmonauten

Berlin, June 6, 2024 – At the corner of Allee der Kosmonauten and Marzahner Chaussee, a colorful topping-out wreath was raised today for 153 new apartments in Building A. In total, the state-owned housing company Gewobag, together with various developers, is constructing around 1,000 new apartments, micro-apartments, and commercial spaces — including a daycare center and a supermarket — on the property at Allee der Kosmonauten 42 in Berlin-Marzahn.

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, representatives from Gewobag, the Notos/Gewobag Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft Allee der Kosmonauten GmbH, and the involved construction companies gathered to celebrate the topping-out ceremony for Building A with its 153 apartments. Six additional buildings and the “Haus der Kosmonauten,” an existing building integrated into the project, complete the development. Construction began in November 2022, and completion of this building is planned for the end of 2024.

The building, realized to KfW-55 energy efficiency standard, is just a few minutes’ walk from Springpfuhl S-Bahn station and comprises 153 rent- and occupancy-controlled apartments, 84 of which are barrier-free, as well as one commercial unit. The roof is prepared for the future installation of a wind turbine. Attractive landscaping and a playground enhance the outdoor area of the 16-story high-rise. Bicycle parking is available both outdoors and on the ground floor.

Thorsten Schulte, managing director of Gewobag EB Entwicklungs- und Baubetreuungsgesellschaft mbH, says: “Gewobag provides homes throughout Berlin. People with very different lifestyles will find a new home here in affordable one- to three-room apartments. The S-Bahn and tram are nearby, as are green areas such as Landschaftspark Herzberge. Notos and Gewobag demonstrate here what successful project development can look like.”

I am very pleased that we can contribute to this and that this large and impressive project has now reached the topping-out stage. Building A with its 16 floors forms a particularly striking corner of the new residential district. The overall project shows that combining private capital and municipal actors in a joint venture can make an important contribution to creating housing.”

Gewobag, with over 74,000 apartments and more than 130,000 tenants, is one of the largest real estate companies in the capital and nationwide. By 2030, the state-owned housing company plans to expand its portfolio by approximately 10,000 new apartments.
